The design challenge was to create a brand video concept featuring a color from Adidas's Adicolor sneaker line, as a modern revival of their 2006 Adicolor short films series. I chose the Adicolor white - the original color and closest to the roots of the brand. The piece is based on this color story and a strong brand connection while also playing into experimentation and freshness for new audiences. My design functions to inspire young streetwear enthusiasts to be more cognizant of the origins of the fashion and the culture that developed historically with it in dance, music, and visual art.

My project highlights the historical origins of the Adidas Adicolor brand for a modern audience. Adicolor has its roots in the ‘70s and ‘80s with hip-hop, street art, and graffiti and has retained its streetwear energy and developed a cult following surrounding it. Where Adidas and Adicolor are today is entirely based on their longstanding appeal and their position in the history of global art and culture. They are authentic, real, and down-to-earth in their design appeal. It's street-centric wear for everywhere.

My project’s style is tactile and textural - the city is alive and urban, constantly in motion. This exciting evolution is reflected throughout the animation. For bold, ever-changing frames and compositions, I chose a collage style to highlight texture, scale, and value.

I used a word map first to decide what kind of imagery could concisely and cohesively constitute the visual identity of New York City. From here, I pulled photo references to create moodboards and my collage scroll for the backbone of my animation.
